Senator Scrutinized for Huge ProfitSenator Ted Stevens made $822,000 on an investment of
$50,000 with an Alaskan contractor who had won a huge federal contract with
his help. The contract was for $450
million for housing for the U. S. Air Force.
Stevens, a member of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, who
is able to funnel huge amounts of federal assistance to his home state, has
said that he never used his influence for personal gain. |
