Gay Marriage: Are Gays God’s Creatures or
Mutants?
|

|
Since the issue of gay marriage has inundated our news media and our voting booths, its time to step back and take a hard look at the gay lifestyle. The question inevitably needs to be asked, “Are gays somehow the ‘chosen’ people or are they the product of genes gone berserk?” Up until the 1970s, gays were considered the plague of society, who often did dirty things in dimly lit back rooms. People began to recognize that regardless of their seemingly sinful behavior, they too are human beings, although many conservative Christians believe they should be burned at the stake for violating the Bible, the direct word of God. But there is a sharp divide between conservative and liberal Christians on this matter. Religious conservatives do not want sexually active gays and lesbians to be
ordained, or to have their committed relationships recognized by the church.
Religious liberals want to promote homosexual ordinations, same-sex marriage,
civil union ceremonies in the church, equal protection under hate-crime legislation,
protection against discrimination in employment, etc., as fundamental human
rights issues. In a number of major
religions, such as Islam, the penalty for homosexuality is death. The “Quran
clearly states that it is unjust, un-natural, transgression, ignorant,
criminal and corrupt.” People who were
raised in a (dying) traditional setting believe that marriage is between a
man and a woman. In the most
recent development, in response to a New Jersey Supreme Court mandate, the
legislature voted to allow gay couples to form civil unions with all of the
rights of married couples. The latest laws in Massachusetts that
permit gay marriage and in two other states that permit gay civil unions is
very upsetting to many people.
Traditionalists and conservatives ask the question, “What’s Next?
Civil unions or worse yet, marriage between four bisexuals, or
marriage between a man and his horse?” This response may seem nonsensical, but with many rulings by
Supreme Courts that trample constitutional fundamentals that have existed for
well over 200 years, it may not be that farfetched. The liberal
politically correct crowd has forced the issue of the acceptability of gay
relationships and marriage down our throats.
They leave no room for meaningful discussion on the subject. If you tend to raise issues or ask
questions, you are verbally assaulted and accused of being homophobic or
worse yet labeled an ignorant redneck by the “enlightened” ones. Well, there is plenty of room for anyone
who questions this line of thinking.
It’s an open issue that requires much debate before a final resolution
can be achieved. What Is The
“Root Cause” of Homosexuality? The careful dissection of this volatile issue requires that we start with a “Root Cause Analysis” of homosexuality itself – so let’s start with square one. Why is it that a small percentage of the population, perhaps 5 to 10 percent, engage in this practice? A fifth grade student can recognize that a man-man or woman-woman relationship doesn’t work as designed when it comes to sexual relations. The Creator of the human race deliberately and obviously designed the genitals of men and women for procreation. This is not possible in a man-man or woman-woman relationship. A man’s anal canal is not designed for frequent and potentially dangerous intrusion. If everyone were gay, the human race would quickly die off. Did the Creator deliberately foster a different mindset for gay people – and if so, for what purpose? In 1991, Dr. Simon LeVay, a gay neuroscientist at the Salk Institute, had permission to carve up the brains of dozens of people in the Los Angles City Morgue. He found that in 19 of the men, the hypothalamus, the area of the brain that governs sexual activity, was consistently smaller in homosexuals than in heterosexuals. He argued that homosexuals and heterosexuals have notable differences in the structure of their brains. The difficulty with this study is that it becomes a question of the chicken and the egg. Nobody really knows which came first, the difference in brain structure or the difference in sexual orientation. That the size of the brain can change as a result of outside factors has already been demonstrated. His cursory research may answer the question, “Is homosexuality a genetic disorder or a learned
experience?” Prior to 2003, scientists believed that estrogen and
testosterone were wholly responsible for sexually organizing the brain. But a study at UCLA in 2003 found
that "Sexual identity is rooted in every person's biology before birth and
springs from a variation in our individual genome." "Our
findings may explain why we feel male or female, regardless of our actual
anatomy. These discoveries lend
credence to the idea that being transgender --- feeling that one has been
born into the body of the wrong sex -- is a state of mind.“ "It's quite possible that sexual identity and
physical attraction is 'hard-wired' by the brain. If we accept this concept, we must dismiss the myth that
homosexuality is a 'choice' and examine our civil legal system accordingly." In many non-Christian second and third world countries,
being gay is a crime punishable by prison or death. Is it that these countries are backward, or do they know
something that we don’t know? In the
two largest countries, India and China, rarely do gays “come out.” Scientists
Attempt to Change Sexuality of ‘Gay’ Sheep That headline is
not intended as a joke. It is
perfectly serious. Researchers at Oregon State University are conducting
experiments to change the sexuality of gay sheep. Approximately one in ten rams prefer to mount other rams rather
than mate with ewes, reducing their value to the farmer. The 10 percent gay
ram population emulates the same estimate for the gay human population. Scientists have
been able to pinpoint the mechanisms for influencing the desires of “male
oriented” rams by studying their brains. Minor brain surgery is performed and
electronic sensors are attached to their brains. By varying the hormone levels, they have had considerable success
in altering the ram’s sexuality with some previously gay sheep becoming
attracted to ewes. Leading gay
advocates, such as Martina Navratilova, screamed bloody murder, demanding
that the project be cancelled. She
said, “How can it be that in the year 2006 a
major university would host such homophobic and cruel experiments?” She said gay men and women would be deeply
offended by the social implications of the tests. Regardless of how implausible their arguments may be, as long
as they utter the magic word, “homophobic,” we are supposed to put our tail
between our legs and crawl off into the corner in fear of retribution. The researchers
argue that the work is valid, perhaps answering once and for all the
politically volatile question as to what determines one’s sexual orientation. They insist that their work is not aimed
at “curing” homosexuality. It raises the prospect that pregnant women could one day be offered a treatment to reduce or eliminate the chance that their offspring will be homosexual. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canada and Massachusetts May Reject Gay Marriage Law Even in extremely liberal Canada, Canada's House of Commons rejected a move by Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper to reopen debate on a national law permitting same-sex marriages. During his campaign before January's national election, Harper promised to try to reverse Canada's same-sex marriage law by reopening the debate in Parliament. After a succession of court decisions in favor of gay rights, Parliament approved legislation last year allowing same-sex marriage throughout the country. The law helped bolster a rush of marriages, many of them between gay couples from the United States, where same-sex marriage is legal only in Massachusetts. U.S. couples face no residency requirements to be married in Canada. Activists for same-sex marriage said Canada's law stands in stark contrast to the battle over the issue in the United States, where 27 states have passed constitutional amendments banning such marriages. Even in liberal Massachusetts, which is the only state that sanctions gay marriage, conservatives and Christians are fighting to repeal the law. Legislators have voted to advance a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union between a man and a woman. The amendment now requires the approval of at least 50 legislators in another vote in the 2007-2008 session. If passed, it would be placed on the November 2008 ballot as a referendum question. If it passed, the amendment would not invalidate the more than 8,000 same-sex marriages that have taken place since they became legal in May 2004. But it would prevent future marriages of gay men and lesbians. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christian Activists Take Action In Dallas, a small landscaping company owned by a Christian activist couple, has politely refused to provide service to a gay couple, Michael Lord and Gary Mackey, who recently purchased a home. The e-mail stated, “I need to tell you that we cannot meet with you because we choose not to work for homosexuals.” The gay couple sent an e-mail to 200 friends and associates asking them not to patronize the Garden Guy, in which Lackey said, “I’m still shocked by the ignorance that exists in today’s society.” A forum on the Garden Guy web site, normally reserved for discussions about gardening and landscaping, was bombarded with angry comments and venomous attacks from as far away as Australia. Some people even attacked the Farber’s beliefs, threatened the couple and their five children and said they should be sodomized. Farber, whose web site often includes biblical quotes and a link to a web site that opposes gay marriage, said she was shocked by the reaction. But Farber and her husband have also gotten hundreds of calls and e-mail messages offering encouragement. Are the Farbers wrong? Of course not – they are Christian activists and homosexuality is considered a sin. But to receive death threats from the politically correct crowd is frightening. Regardless of your views on homosexuality, we can all be thankful that small business still has the ability to reject customers that practice lifestyles in direct opposition to their beliefs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion The jury is still out on gay sexuality, civil unions and marriage. So don’t expect analytical people to blindly accept the liberal’s politically correct theology on this issue. Political correctness on many issues has reached an alarming crescendo, to the point of where our sacred institutions and values are being trashed by the so-called intellectually elite, who rarely exhibit any intellect. If other institutes of higher learning and medical researchers can continue their in-depth analysis of gay sexuality, perhaps one day we will have the facts laid on the table so we can all make our own decision regarding this issue. But in the meantime, many of us find gay sexuality to be unacceptable – so be it. |
